About Us

Spirit Magic is a junior domestic basketball club located in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Our junior teams compete on Saturdays in the Greater Eastern Basketball Conference (GEBC). Spirit Magic caters for girls and boys of all skill levels and we field teams from under 8’s right through to under 18’s. Our club is committed to providing an environment where children can safely enjoy the game of basketball, improve their skills and benefit from being actively involved in a team sport.

Our Club

Spirit Magic Basketball Club was formed so that children can have an opportunity for play and recreation, which will be directed towards the development of their abilities and their community spirit and attitude towards others.

We’re committed to provide an environment where all players can enjoy the game of basketball through their childhood years.

History

Spirit Magic Basketball Club was established in 1994. Founded by Father Mogg the initial thoughts on the club name was ‘Moggs Magic’. But ultimately it was decided to become Spirit Magic Basketball Club. Some of the first committee members were John Handley, David Grant, Laurel Wheatley, Peter Manassa and Peter Higgins.

In July 1995 Spirit Magic games were moved to the new venue to become known as ‘The Rings’. At this stage Joe Egan joined the committee and is still currently a member and coaching at the club to this present day.

In Summer 2000/01 Season Spirit Magic along with other Ringwood based clubs merged and created the Greater Eastern Basketball Conference (GEBC) which we are still apart of in 2024.

New Players

Spirit Magic Basketball Club welcomes new players of all skill levels. Our club has teams that play at all levels and caters for U8s, U10s, U12s, U14s, U16s and U18s.
